Xiaomi, one of the leading smartphone manufacturers in China, recently unveiled its latest foldable phone, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3. As the successor to its previous models, the Mix Fold and Mix Fold 2, many tech enthusiasts were eager to know if this new device would be available in the global market.
According to Daniel Desjarlais, the Communications Director for Xiaomi, the Mix Fold 3 will not be released outside of China. While other major players in the smartphone industry, such as Samsung, Huawei, and Motorola, have been launching foldable phones in various markets, Xiaomi seems to be taking a different approach. Tecno and OPPO are also expanding their reach by launching foldable devices in multiple markets. On the other hand, OnePlus is preparing to enter the foldable phone market next month, while Honor is set to announce the Honor Magic V2 and another foldable phone in the global market.
International customers who are interested in obtaining the device can visit Giztop, Xiaomi’s online store, to pre-order it. Priced at $1,599, the Mix Fold 3 is offered in three different shades, including black, black fiber, and gold. Giztop is currently offering three configurations for the device: 12GB of RAM with 256GB of storage, 16GB of RAM with 512GB of storage, and 16GB of RAM with a massive 1TB of storage. Shipping of the Mix Fold 3 is scheduled to begin on August 26.
In terms of its specifications, the Mix Fold 3 boasts an 8.03-inch foldable LTPO AMOLED display with a resolution of 1916 x 2160 pixels, along with a 6.56-inch AMOLED cover screen supporting 1080 x 2520 pixels. Both screens offer a 120Hz refresh rate, ensuring a smooth and immersive user experience. To enhance security, the device features a side-facing fingerprint sensor, and it runs on the MIUI 14-based Android 13.
For photography enthusiasts, the Mix Fold 3 is equipped with an impressive camera setup. It features a 20-megapixel front camera and a 20-megapixel internal camera. On the rear, a 50-megapixel main camera with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), a 10-megapixel telephoto camera with OIS and 3.2x optical zoom, a 10-megapixel periscope zoom camera with OIS and 5x optical zoom, and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens.
Powering the Mix Fold 3 is the 3.36GHz Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, accompanied by LPDDR5x RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. The device is equipped with a 4,800mAh battery and supports both 67W wired and 50W wireless charging, ensuring that users can quickly recharge their devices. With its impressive specifications and enticing features, the Mix Fold 3 is set to be a sought-after device for smartphone enthusiasts in China.
