One of the most anticipated games of 2023 is Redfall, a co-op first-person shooter that unfortunately doesn’t look like it’ll be able to run at 60 frames per second on Xbox Series X|S. The official Redfall Twitter account said, “Redfall is launching on Xbox consoles with Quality mode only.”
Xbox One Series X will support 4K at 30 frames per second, while Xbox One Series S will run at 1440p at the same frame rate. An upgrade “at a later date” is planned to bring the 60 FPS Performance mode.

Given that Redfall appears to be a pretty engaging game, this is certainly very disheartening news for players to hear, and it is not a fantastic sign pointing towards technological polish and decent performance.
We were able to play it early and have a conversation with the creators about their upcoming vampire-slaying adventure, and we came away really impressed.
Players are wondering why the creators aren’t holding off on releasing the game until it can run at 60 FPS without any additional tweaking. Video game development is a time-consuming and expensive endeavor, so it’s no surprise that Redfall’s release date was pushed back once.
But players have every right to question the morality of selling items that creators know aren’t fully ready with the promise that it will be remedied later.
