The news of Bobi’s death was announced by Dr Becker through a Facebook post that reads, “Last night, this sweet boy earned his wings. Despite outliving every dog in history, his 11,478 days on earth would never be enough, for those who loved him.” Talking about his age, the World’s Oldest Dog was 31 years old when he breathed his last on October 23, 2023. An Australian cattle dog named Bluey was holding this record. He lived till the age of 29. To note, Bluey’s record of World’s Oldest Dog remained unbreakable for nearly 100 years until Bobi from Portugal lived for more than 31 years. The owner of Bobi, Leonel Costa who also rears four cats on his farm, lives in the rural village of Portugal called ” Conqueiros”. Bobi’s longevity was an anomaly because his breed’s average lifespan ranges between 10 and 14 years. Leonel Costa was merely eight years old when Bobi was born. He had a touching tale about the dog’s extraordinary survival from his early days.
Reportedly, during his puppyhood, Bobi wasn’t even supposed to survive. Bobi was born as one of four siblings in a woodshed. Leonel Costa’s family decided they couldn’t afford to raise any more animals. Costa recalls that all the puppies were taken out of the woodshed by his parents and he thought they had removed them all. They did not know that Bobi was left behind to secure his miraculous start to life. He made a lot of people happy, especially his family,” Costa said. Stay tuned.
