The event of the 44th Miss Soweto was held at the Soweto Theatre, which was hosted by Lerato Kganyago, a renowned media personality. The host also paid homage to her Soweto roots and Thabiso Makhubela at the event. The beauty pageant winner Paige Harvey was crowned on the occasion of her 20th birthday. She beat Lethaukuthula Ayanda Maseko and Nhlakanipho Amandla Mkongi on the finale night to become the winner. Lethaukuthula Ayanda Maseko and Nhlakanipho Amandla Mkongi finished as the first and second runner-ups respectively.
When Paige Harvey was crowned, she expressed her gratitude to have the title. The winner said, “What a previous honor it has been to serve you, Soweto. Being Miss Soweto has changed my life in many ways that I never could’ve expected. Not only has it helped me become more confident in myself, either as a model or speaker, it has opened opportunities for me to collaborate with so many organizations that may be forgotten or unseen” Paige Harvey took over from Sono. She is a pride of Eldorado Park.
After being conferred with the crown of Miss Soweto in 2023, Paige Harvey said she wants to use her reign to raise awareness about alcohol and drug abuse. She referred drug and alcohol abuse to the pandemic in the community. Harvey added, “For someone growing up in hardships and amidst drug abuse, winning means breaking free from those challenges,” Miss Soweto 2023 said that this victory represents resilience and personal growth.
