Christopher Dougherty was the Philadelphia WPVI-TV Chopper 6 Aerial reporter and photojournalist. According to the source, the Philadelphia TV went down in the section of Wharton State Forest in Washington Township, Burlington County on the night of 19th December 2023, Tuesday when they were returning from an assignment they did near the Jersey Shore. On the next day, at around 8:00 pm the accident occurred and at around 11:00 pm, the helicopter was reported missing, as per the New Jersey State Park Police.
As per the TV station, the team officially boarded the helicopter at the Northeast Philadelphia Airpot before 7:30 pm. The helicopter headed to a mission that was close to Galloway Township, which is outside of Atlantic City. The flight tracking data reported that the helicopter was last seen flying over the Wharton State Forest before descent to return to Philadephia. The helicopter was a rented helicopter from the North Carolina-based company, US Helicopters Inc. A GoFundMe account has been made by the family to raise some funds for his funeral.
