WhatsApp Launches ‘Accidental Delete’ Feature: In 2017, WhatsApp implemented a system whereby anyone could send unsent messages. WhatsApp lets you delete a letter from your inbox and permanently erase it from everyone else’s.
If you frequently use WhatsApp, you’ve probably mistakenly pressed the Delete for me button instead of the Delete for everyone. As late as it may be, WhatsApp’s new “Accidental Delete” feature is better than no update, allowing users to restore messages they accidentally erased.
It was first discovered that the messaging service was developing this function in August 2022, and it was made available to a small number of beta testers then. If you delete a personal message accidentally, a floating snack bar notification will appear for 5 seconds, allowing you to restore the message.

If you want to undelete the message for everyone, select the option to restore it first. There is currently no way to restore a statement you deleted after making it private in WhatsApp. WhatsApp may change this time limit if it turns out that five seconds is not enough in some situations.

Earlier this year, the service extended the time when a message could be deleted from seven minutes to sixty hours. Users on WhatsApp’s stable channel on Android, iPhone, and desktop can already use the Accidental Delete feature.

This is the third major update to WhatsApp’s service that the company has released this month. Whatsapp introduced its first user-editable Avatars at the start of December.

After that, some upgrades were made to voice and video calls, such as the capacity to mute specific callers and support for up to 32 participants in a group video call.
