Howard Haym Hiatt was an American medical researcher who discovered messenger RNA. He was born on July 22, 1925 in Patchogue, New York, U.S. in a Jewish family. He took knowledge of Jewish culture and traditions from his family. His father came to Lithuania from the Holocaust because his father had lost many members of his family. Howard entered Harvard College after completing his high school studies. He attended Harvard Medical School in 1948 and pursued a career in the medical field.

In early 1955, he became a faculty member of Harvard University. After which he took over the post of Blumgart Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. From 1963 to 1972, he served as physician-in-chief at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston. He took training to translate molecular and cell biology with his knowledge and experience. In 1972, he went to Yale University for his medical studies. From 1972 to 1984, he worked in quantitative analytical sciences and was introduced to molecular and cell biology.

He was known as a biomedical researcher, medical educator, hospitalist, and human rights advocate. He achieved many heights in his life and always moved forward and achieved every success with hard work and passion.
