Sole Is The Only Playable Character In Sonic Frontiers; Takashi Iizuka Makes A Brief Remark On Post-frontiers Projects

The latest issue of PLAY Magazine includes an interview with Takashi Iizuka of Sonic Team, who discussed the upcoming Sonic Frontiers.

The majority of the information presented here has been provided previously. On the other hand, certain fresh bits of data have been clarified that fans can savor.

The magazine issue states that Sonic is the “only playable character,” and Iizuka adds that Sonic’s moveset is “true to his persona” and doesn’t have any of the gimmicks.

While it is possible that other playable characters could be added in a future DLC pack, it can be assumed that Sonic will be the only playable character at the game’s first release.

Even while Iizuka only mentions Frontiers as a large project, this could hint at the existence of other, lesser games.

In any case, a big shout out to Tails Channel, a Sonic the Hedgehog fan account, for posting scans of the coverage in PLAY Magazine.

Sonic Frontiers will be available on November 8, 2022, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and personal computers.

Sonic spends most of Sonic Frontiers alone in the Starfall Islands, without his friend’s Tails and Amy. He is then instructed by a mysterious AI-like voice to locate the Chaos Emeralds.

In Sonic Frontiers, players can choose to explore any of the game’s five islands, each of which has its biome, puzzles, adversaries, and more.
