Michael Jonathan Smith has created the upcoming American post-apocalyptic action comedy series Twisted Metal. The series stars Anthony Mackie, Stephanie Beatriz, Thomas Haden Church, Will Arnett, Richard Cabral, and Samoa Joe and is based on the series of automobile warfare video games by the same name developed by Sony Interactive Entertainment.
The half-hour show is about a driver who takes a job to deliver a package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland while being chased by marauders.
Peacock ordered a full season of the show in February 2022, and production on it began in May 2019 at Sony Pictures Television and PlayStation Productions. It will premiere on Peacock in July 2023 and run for 10 episodes, all of which were shot in New Orleans between May and August 2022.
Twisted Metal Show Release Date
Peacock has set the release date of July 27, 2023 for the 10-episode series premiere of Twisted Metal. Principal photography for the first season began in May 2022 in New Orleans with James McMillan serving as cinematographer, and it concluded in August of that year on an estimated budget (before tax incentives) of $72.3 million.
