Visual upgrades to The Witcher 3 are planned for current-gen consoles and PC. We apologize for the delay, but here is our latest information. Even though The Witcher 3 didn’t come out until 2015, it’s still one of the best role-playing games (RPGs) on any platform, so the developers decided to give it a graphic upgrade for the PlayStation 5, Xbox One X|S, and PC.
While CD Projekt Red is still releasing patches for Cyberpunk 2077, Saber Interactive, the studio behind The Witcher’s outstanding Nintendo Switch conversion, was working on a next-gen (or current-gen) upgrade. That was the original concept, but CDPR decided to handle in-house development. Here’s what we know about the game’s PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC versions.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Upgrade Pricing For PlayStation®4, Xbox One, and PC
The Witcher 3 PS5, Xbox Series X|S, And PC Receive New Features Upgrades.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will reportedly have ray tracing effects and improved loading times in its upcoming update. However, CD Projekt Red has not yet announced whether or not all of the game’s downloadable content will be included in the retail release. Improved textures are probable, as the developer has collaborated with community modder Halk Hogan to incorporate the highly regarded The Witcher 3 HD Reworked mod into the release.
In September of 2020, one of the devs hinted that a new and improved version of The Witcher 3 would be released, boasting 60 frames per second and 4K resolution, among other features of modern gaming systems. The updated versions will presumably support the DualSense and the new Xbox controller, allowing for haptic feedback and other features.
Netflix-themed DLC for The Witcher
CDPR has also revealed that a fresh new set of DLC based on Netflix’s Witcher series would be accessible to players at no additional cost, joining the free update for Witcher 3 players. This brand-new material will not be locked behind the next-gen version of the game. CDPR confirmed that all platforms (PS4, Xbox One, and Switch) would have access to the downloadable content.
We don’t know much about the DLC’s contents, but fresh Witcher material is always appreciated. We have finally covered every piece of information available on the next-gen patch for The Witcher 3. The latest updates will be posted here, so please check back.
Witcher 3 Remaster Delay Explained
The developers have stated that they “want to make things right” and that the delay results from “recommendations made by individuals supervising the development,” despite having previously expressed regret about the setback. CD Projekt Red’s new approach to publishing games includes the aforementioned setbacks. The firm does not want another launch disaster like the one with Cyberpunk 2077. The developer posted an update on Twitter, which you can view here.
Is There A Launch Date For The Witcher 3’s Next-generation Patch?
CD Projekt president and joint CEO Adam Kiciski said the update is “on track” and expected to launch in the fourth quarter of 2022, though no specific date has been set. The announcement came during the company’s earnings call on September 7. After a number of delays, the remaster of The Witcher 3 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC was finally expected to arrive in the second quarter of 2022. Now it appears that we will see Geralt and the rest of the group again in 2022.
