According to the Indian Meteorological Department, the orange alert indicates the possibility of isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall for two days on November 13 and November 14 in coastal areas of Tamil Nadu, Karaikal, and Puducherry. As IMD issued an orange alert, the government of Tamil Nadu decided to put educational institutions and other professional colleges on holiday. As per the official announcement, all the educational institutions in the Mayiladuthurai district will remain closed on November 14.

The district Collector of Villupuram, C. Palani said that schools and colleges in the Viluppuram district of Tamil Nadu close on November 14 amid a prediction for heavy rainfall in the district. Apart from this, the district collector of Cuddalore, Arun Thamburaj also declared a holiday for educational institutions including professional colleges on November 14. The Indian Meteorological Department took to X formerly Twitter wrote, “Orange Alert! The coastal regions of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal are expected to experience isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall (115.6 to 204.4 mm) on November 13th and 14th. Stay safe, stay informed!” The Meteorological Centre of Chennai also issued an advisory for November 13 and 14 for the Tamil Nadu, Karaikal, and Puducherry areas, “For November 14, light to moderate rain is expected at many places, with thunderstorms and lightning likely at one or two places. Heavy to very heavy rain is likely at isolated places over Cuddalore, Villupuram, Chengalpattu, and Kancheepuram districts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry” Stay tuned.
