Initially, the owner of the cat cafe received an impressive response from the visitors but what led up to the closure of the cat cafe within a week. The news of the cat cafe’s closure surfaced after an animal welfare group seized animals at Tabby Time Cat Cafe after the cat fostering organization promoted the cafe on a social media page in Canberra. The ad campaign reportedly claimed that the cafe would be run from the living room by a woman with visitors having to provide their coffee.
The ad campaign was as “Canberra now has a cat cafe! It is a VERY small cat cafe run from my living room. BYO coffee so I don’t have to get food preparation skills or insurance anytime soon… and six adorable foster kittens, one of whom is still available for adoption!” The woman fixed the price at $25 a child over 10 years old per hour ($50 minimum) and $20 an adult per hour (minimum $40).
