Sonic Frontiers: Nintendo Switch Release Time
While the exact release time for each area remains to be seen, new Switch titles typically launch at 9 am PT/12 pm ET in the NA on the title's release day (November 7/8) and at the equivalent time for all other territories. When did this oddly staggered release begin?
There are, of course, time zone differences that must be taken into account for any global rollout. The Sonic Frontiers team would rather have all North American players have access to the new game at around the same time, rather than having players on the West Coast wait an extra three hours, for example. That's par for the course.
While the PC release of Sonic Frontiers is more exceptional, more and more games with “day-one” PC adaptations are now “enjoying” a little later release period. Because of Steam's rules and other PC port requirements, it's rare for both versions to be released at the same time. Other times, though, the situation is a little hazier.
Fortunately, Sonic Frontiers doesn't take up too much space on your hard drive during installation. The average file size for the game is around 30 gigabytes, which is appropriate for a significant new release. Although, before you go ahead and try to download the game, you should make sure you have enough free space.
Sonic Frontiers, for those unaware, is Sega's most ambitious attempt at a true Sonic open-world game to date. One of the things that makes this Sonic game intriguing and a little bit scary is how “contemporary” it is in many respects.
It makes no difference if someone has requested skill trees in a Sonic game or not. We're going to get one, and we'll all have to deal with the fallout of the choices made in its development.
To be fair, early reactions to Sonic Frontiers have been somewhat lukewarm. Numerous critics have either gushed over the game or panned it, but the general consensus seems to be that it's an interesting attempt to take the series in a new direction that just needs some time to mature.
If people buy (or buy into) Frontiers when it comes out in a matter of hours, the concepts presented in it will have a chance to flourish.
