Sims 4 Baby Update: Creating Tiny Sims Has Never Been Easier

The latest Behind the Sims Summit presented a look at what’s to come for the life sim franchise spanning The Sims 4, mobile games The Sims Mobile and The Sims FreePlay, and The Sims 5 (we mean Project Rene) (we mean Project Rene). And yeah, babies that aren’t things will come shortly.

When Are Babies Coming to the Sims 4?

Teased in October 2022 On March 14, under the shadow of the Sims Summit, comes a major baby update. Despite their historical significance in the series, babies have been reduced to inanimate objects in The Sims 4 since the game’s debut in 2014.

Your Sim’s newborn(s) sat in their cradles after birth, doing not much. Your Sims could engage with the newborns in a very restricted fashion, feeding them, changing their diapers, and choosing from a range of social interactions.

But they could never be moved out of the cradle, you couldn’t dress them, and you couldn’t even really recognize any particular facial traits on them.

Beginning March 14, Simmers will have a number of new alternatives. Firstly, there will be customization possibilities, allowing each rugrat to exist as their own person. There are new hair options, outfits, and accessories.

Babies can now be held, nursed, played with, and even passed on to other Sims for various reasons now that they are no longer confined to their bassinets. They can socialize with other Sims of various ages, so now your fictitious family won’t seem like a group therapy session waiting to happen. Newborns, like adults, will have personality quirks. Imagine! A baby with more personality than a static object!

Is There Going to Be a New Sims 4 Expansion Pack?

Yes! Unfortunately, The Sims team didn’t share anything about it. We’ll have to wait just a bit longer until February 2 for further information. That’s also two days before the franchise’s 23rd anniversary.

However, the future Expansion Pack is mainly expected to be a Generations Pack. There are many somewhat classic Sims Expansion Packs, and Generations, which adds gameplay and objects linked to families, is one of them.

This supposition is due to its release near the huge baby update. Also, Meet the family was a theme at the Behind the SIms Summit. And fortunately, we won’t have to wait too long to find out.

What Do We Know About the Sims 5?

The Sims team shared fresh insights on the next generation of the classic franchise, called Project Rene, during today’s Sims Summit. Much of it built upon the little details fans gained during the last Sims Summit in October.

Project Rene’s game director, Grant Rodiek, recently spoke about the game’s cross-play and multiplayer features for mobile and PC. Gamers can take their Sims with them wherever they go thanks to mobile, but according to Rodiek, the complete experience is reserved for PC, where players have access to more robust creative tools.

The game director gave an example of playing on PC at home and on mobile while out at a park with his child. For multiplayer, the predominantly single-player brand, Rodiek emphasized that The Sims 5 is not going to follow the MMO route, but would instead allow players to invite friends as they desire.

This reminds me of Animal Crossing, another single-player RPG where the player has the option to either socialize with other people or keep things to themselves. Since the announcement late last year, the company began rolling out restricted playtesting small pieces of the game, including apartment customization, multiplayer customization, and uploading furniture and item design.

The team, though, remained convinced that work is still in progress. Rodiek expressly indicated the next generation is years out.

Are There Any Updates to the Sims Mobile and Freeplay Mobile Games?

Both mobile games, yes there are two, are getting some love. In honor of the franchise’s 10th year, The Sims Mobile will host a plum bob disco. Plumbobs are the 3D diamonds that display over Sims’ heads to indicate how they’re performing in the game and are typically colored green.

The phone game is also getting ready to celebrate its fifth anniversary with new goods related to a treasure hunt. The Sims Mobile will also see regular seasonal upgrades and another Sims Festival, which is a monthly recurring event in the game.

Meanwhile, in The Sims In April, FreePlay will introduce a new desert terrain area to the city of Sims Springs, which players will be able to alter to their liking. There will be fixer-upper opportunities, according to the Summit, and there will be an amusement park grand prize as you make your way through the map.

FreePlay apparently hasn’t gotten any extra music since its introduction 11 years ago. The mobile game will add tunes from other Sims games which may be heard via the Sim FM station on stereos.
