As the assembly polls are approaching Madhya Pradesh very soon, parties have started turning each and every stone in a bid to lure as many voters ahead of the elections. During an interview with News18, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan asserted that women had come out to vote for the Bhartiya Janta Party as money had been credited directly to their bank accounts. While pointing to the Congress Party’s promises for monthly financial assistance for the state’s women and LPG cylinder at Rs 500 if Congress gains power in the state, CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan said, “Kamal Nath made some promises but I punctured his promises by giving Ladli Behna Yojana and an LPG cylinder at Rs 450. We may have been in trouble if I had not punctured the Congress promises. I am assured of a win.”
The chief minister said that the opposition party had been overconfident in the state and Congress leader Nath sat easy as he assumed months ago that he was winning the elections. Shivraj Singh further asserted that what had cost the BJP in the previous assembly election in MP was the farm loan waiver promised by the Congress.
CM added, “The way Rahul Gandhi said then that they would waive all farm loans within 10 days or they would change their CM, the people fell for that. We could not counter it then in time. So we fell short. But the public now knows that the farm loan waiver never happened and does not trust Congress. This time, I have punctured all their promises,” Therefore, MP CM announced Ladli Behna Yojana just a few days after the polls.
