Sam Altman To ReJoin OpenAI as CEO After New Board’s Appointment
OpenAI confirmed the development through a statement shared on X formerly Twitter. Sam Altman will resume as CEO of the startup after the company hired a new board led by Bret Taylor. The other members of the board are Adam D’Angelo and Larry Summers. The company reached an agreement in principle for Altman to return to the company as CEO with a new initial board. OpenAI took to Twitter and posted, “We have reached an agreement in principle for Sam Altman to return to OpenAI as CEO with a new initial board of Bret Taylor (Chair), Larry Summers, and Adam D’Angelo. We are collaborating to figure out the details. Thank you so much for your patience through this.”
However, before making this announcement the company officially announced that former Twitch boss Emmett Shear will join OpenAI as interim CEO on Monday while Microsoft announced that recently fired CEO Sam Altman will join Microsoft to lead a new advanced AI research team alongside Greg.
