The Steam version of Resident Evil 2 and 3 Remake just got an update that takes away a big feature. When people start up the remade classics, they find that ray tracing is no longer a choice for graphics, even if their computers are powerful enough to handle it.
Fans of Resident Evil who are confused are looking for answers in Reddit and Steam community posts, but it seems like there are none to be found. No one knows why RTX is no longer in games that worked fine with it just a few days ago, and no one knows when it will come back.
The news that ray tracing has been removed from both the Resident Evil 2 Remake and the Resident Evil 3 Remake began circulating online. As of this writing, it doesn’t look like the choice has come back to either game, and we haven’t been able to find anything from Capcom about it.
Do you know that all the big names from the other Resident Evil movies are in Resident Evil: Deἀth Island? Resident Evil Central posted a new Japanese poster on Twitter:
Many people are making guesses about what might have caused this, but no one is sure. People often think that this is because Capcom forgot to include the choice in an update that was sent out for a different reason.
On the other hand, some people think it might be a problem with Nvdia. We’ll have to wait and see if either side says anything about it. And maybe most importantly, ask if either of them knows when the choice will come back to the games.
Other players, especially those who have had trouble with ray tracing in both of these Resident Evil games, think that the choice has been taken down for maintenance. But it would be strange if the developers did that without telling anyone. If this is true, we hope it means that it will be back soon.
Resident Evil fans at least have Resident Evil 4 Remake to play while they wait. Still, many fans who are really into the game have already blown through the story and are looking for new ways to play.
One fan was able to speedrun the game in less than two hours, which we saw the other day. Yes, this is also true for problems at work. It doesn’t look like Capcom has said anything about this yet, but we’ll let you know if that changes.
