The remake of Resident Evil 4’s Mercenary Mode is set to come out on April 7. However, players in Korea say they can already play it. Some people are also saying that the mode is missing important parts right now.
Mercenary Mode is a mainstay of the Resident Evil games. It’s an arcade-style horde mode where players fight waves of infection to get the best score. In the original Resident Evil 4, players could unlock Mercenary Mode after finishing the campaign. In the remake, however, Mercenary Mode will be available for the first time on April 7.
Here is the tweet from the official Resident Evil Twitter account from April 6 –

Players have noticed that Ada Wong and Albert Wesker are not playable characters in the version that is available in the places listed above. Both of these characters were in previous versions of the mode, and data mining showed that they were also in the remake. Some people have thought that this means Capcom might plan to sell the characters as paid downloads in the future.
Do you know that Minecraft Legends is a whole new way to play in the Minecraft world? It’s an action-strategy game where building and mining are less important than beating the piglins:
This seems to confirm rumors that microtransactions will be added to the mode. Players have started seeing “upgrade tickets” for faster progress in Mercenary Mode runs in online stores.
The item description for these Upgrade Tickets reads –
“Here’s your ticket to the gun show! Specifically a ticket to be redeemed at the Merchant’s shop. With this, you’ll have access to a weapon’s exclusive upgrade at any time, regardless of the weapon’s level. Not only that, but once unlocked, the upgrade itself is free of charge!”
As a single-player game mode, this “pay-to-win” model might be less controversial than those used in competitive multiplayer games, but the absence of two key characters is likely to disappoint some.
