Redfall Takes Xbox Game Pass: Arkane Studios director Harvey Smith called the decision to release Redfall on Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass subscription service “shocking” and “scary.”
When Redfall launches later this year, it will be the first game from Arkane Studios to be available on Xbox Game Pass from the start.
Going forward, however, you can expect all future games from the developer to launch simultaneously on Xbox Game Pass and Xbox One.
Since Microsoft's acquisition of Bethesda was finalized, one Arkane game, the first-person shooter Deathloop, has been released.

But Microsoft respected the existing contracts between Bethesda and Sony for Deathloop, so it was only available on the PS5 for a full year.
Immediately following the expiration of its PlayStation 5 exclusivity, Deathloop made its Xbox Game Pass debut.

As open-world co-op shooter Redfall is not subject to any such agreements, it will be available on Xbox Game Pass on the day of its release. Smith told GamesRadar that the prospect of so many people playing Redfall at once was “kind of shocking” and “scary in a way.”
Immediately, the team will receive a lot more input than they bargained for. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Smith said that Redfall was Arkane's primary focus, calling it their “pandemic game.”
It's difficult to say at this point what this means for the potential scope or quality if anything, but fans should find out later this year.

Up until this point, there has been no word on when Redfall would actually be released. There was supposed to be a Redfall release in 2022, but now it won't come out until the first half of 2023.
Although no official release date has been announced, reputable leakers have indicated that the game has been delayed internally again, meaning that fans may have to wait even longer to get their hands on the game.
New info on Redfall:
“I feel like with Xbox Game Pass, the potential is here for us to say: This is Arkane, and these are our creative values – we can expose a lot of people to the way that we make games.”

Redfall was expected to release in March or April of 2023, but an internal delay has pushed the release date back to May of that year if the rumors are to be believed.
Considering that Starfield, Bethesda's open-world sci-fi RPG, was expected to launch after Redfall, this news initially caused concern; however, it now appears that this may not be the case.
New Redfall info:
– Redfall offers an unfathomably larger open-world space than Prey's Talos I
– home base where you can talk to NPCs, get side-quests
– story-driven missions & freeroam
– gunplay crucial, hired FPS specialists, id Software helpedhttps://t.co/l1pX4ahdDY pic.twitter.com/lZ4ptCTTJA— Klobrille (@klobrille) January 6, 2023
It's possible that the Redfall delay isn't affecting Starfield's release date, which is still planned for the first half of 2023.
Fans of both games would benefit from knowing with greater certainty when they can expect to get their hands on them, and Microsoft should do that soon. Redfall is currently being worked on for PC and Xbox Series X.
