Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 and Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 Declared: What’S New in Affordable and Mid-Range Phones?

The Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 and Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chipsets were introduced by Qualcomm Technologies on Wednesday, respectively, targeting the mid-range and budget smartphone markets. These chipsets are designed for high-volume 5G devices, so their specifications have been upgraded similarly. They now feature updated and quicker IP blocks (reusable chip units).

Unlike the more reasonably priced SD 4 Gen 1, which maintains the 6nm node, the 6 Gen 1 is constructed using a 4nm manufacturing process. The first six Gen 1 powered gadgets are slated to come in Q1 2023, while this quarter will introduce four such devices.

The Snapdragon 400 and 600 designations have been retired in favor of the new chipsets. In addition to these enhanced capabilities, they also contain cutting-edge enhancements like capture connection, artificial intelligence, and entertainment.

Qualcomm Technologies' senior director of product management Deepu John says these two chipsets will bring cutting-edge solutions to consumers. Check out the features of these modern chipsets.

Snapdragon 6 Gen 1: New Features And Specifications

The Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset is meant to take the place of the Snapdragon 695. The central and graphics processing units are improved from their predecessors by as much as 40% and 35%, respectively.

It is claimed that the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 provides reliable camera performance and power thanks to its triple ISP, which permits simultaneous capturing of bright images from all three cameras.

Additionally, users may take pictures at a maximum of 108 megapixels and record video in HDR. In addition, the Snapdragon 6 has the 7th Gen Qualcomm AI Engine, which boosts AI performance by a factor of three compared to its predecessor in areas like activity tracking that rely on AI. Furthermore, it allows for 60 frames per second in HDR games.

Snapdragon 4 Gen 1: Specs And Features

This year's Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 is the follow-up to the previous year's Snapdragon 480 Plus. An increase in performance of 10% on the graphics processing unit (GPU) and 15% on the central processing unit (CPU) are claimed.

The chipset's octa-core processor makes it ideal for running multiple programs simultaneously. It has image signal processing (ISP) and multi-frame noise reduction, so the images are clean and detailed.

The Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chipset will enable customers to take photographs with a resolution of up to 108 megapixels and use an always-listening digital assistant.

In addition, the Qualcomm AI Engine with Qualcomm HVX technology is built into the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 processor to facilitate the use of multiple microphones, the elimination of background noise, and the detection of objects at great distances.
