The Punjab government declared a public holiday on the account of the martyrdom day of Kartar Singh Sarabha, November 16. The official notification regarding the same came out on Wednesday, November 15, 2023. Keep in mind that the martyrdom day of Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha, Nov 16 will be observed as a public holiday. As a result of the public holiday declared on November 16, educational institutions and other government offices and corporations in the state will remain closed on Thursday. Punjab Government’s official notification regarding the declaration of a public holiday in the state on November 16 to celebrate the martyrdom day of Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha, reads, “It is notified that s. 16-11-2023 (Thursday) is observed as a gazetted holiday instead of reserved in Government offices, Boards/Corporations, and Government Educational Institutions of Punjab State in observance of Kartar Singh Sarabha Ji’s Martyr Day.” The official post further reads, “A copy of the same is sent to all Special Chief Secretaries, Additional Chief Secretaries, Financial Commissioners, Principal Secretaries and Administrative Secretaries of Punjab State for information and appropriate action.”

“A copy of the same is sent to the Heads of Departments, Commissioners of Divisions, Registrar Punjab and Haryana High Court, Deputy Commissioners, and Sub Divisional Magistrates for information and appropriate action. Sending a copy to the Director, Information and Public Relations Department, Punjab, Chandigarh, it is requested that this decision of the Government be communicated to the public through press, radio, and television. A copy thereof is sent to the Controller, Printing and Writing Materials Department, Punjab, Chandigarh for publication of this notification in the Punjab Government Ordinary Gazette. However, the official notification was published in Punjabi.
