On Tuesday, MINI (MINI Cooper) announced their collaboration with The Pokemon Company International to produce a new electric MINI Concept Aceman automobile with a Pokemon theme.
A prototype of the all-electric version of the legendary MINI Cooper was shown off to MINI fans and gaming enthusiasts during Gamescom’s Opening Night Live event in Cologne, Germany, where the announcement was made.
“Mini’s unusual design and optimistic, future-focused outlook on personal mobility are hallmarks of the brand. According to MINI CEO Stefanie Wurst, “gamification will play an increasingly essential part in the MINI of the future and offer a unique experience for our customers.”
Thanks to Pokemon, millions of fans of two beloved icons can finally bond over their mutual love of the game. Gamescom 2022 will be an event for contemporary fandom, gaming, and pop culture, and this is how we will reach a whole new audience.
Stefanie further, says that the concept vehicle embodies “how MINI is redefining itself for its all-electric future and what the brand stands for: an electrified go-kart feel, an immersive digital experience, and a strong focus on a small environmental footprint.”
The latest MINI concept, the Aceman, is a fun take on the classic MINI design. Using the electric hatchback’s Experience Mode, the two legendary figures brought the popular character Pikachu to life for their fans. In this mode, Pikachu’s face will appear on the primary screen of your OLED device to greet you as the new central instrument.
Advanced projection technology allows the animation to reach the dashboard, front doors, and apron. The looping animation begins with the Poké Ball appearing and moving on the OLED screen, then opening with a brilliant blue glow that travels from the screen, via the dashboard, the light bar of the doors, and the apron projection in the vehicle’s interior.
Pikachu appears on the dashboard display in an endless loop. The well-known electric Pokémon fires a bolt of bright yellow lightning that strikes the exterior of the car and then travels through the inner doors and out the front of the vehicle.
When you open the doors of the electric vehicle, the Mini x Pokemon logo is displayed on the LEDs on the bumper.
When asked whether a Nintendo Switch might be connected to the automobile, MINI’s head of design, Oliver Heilmer, gave a vague “yes” but did not elaborate. The MINI Concept Aceman includes a built-in outside projector, so you can watch your favorite Pokemon movie on the road with your pals by projecting it onto a wall, like the one you might be sitting on if you have the roof rack installed.
Notsure it warrants a Serebii tweet but at Gamescom this weekend you'll see this Pokémon x Mini Aceman Concept Car
