It’s possible that Discord may soon be available on PS5 systems. Tom Henderson, an established figure in the gaming industry, has recently claimed that PlayStation will implement Discord voice chat “in the coming months.”
Henderson says that the same source that originally leaked the existence of the recently announced DualSense Edge controller has now claimed that Discord will hit PS5 consoles later this year. Discord has apparently been in the QA phase for a few months and will reportedly drop with the release of version 7.00, with version 6.00 expected to release this September.
Henderson doesn’t give a firm date, but he does say that he’ll have a better idea of when that date is the following week.
In May of last year, Sony and Discord announced cooperation, with SIE CEO Jim Ryan revealing that Discord would be integrated with PlayStation systems. Ryan, however, did not go into specifics about the level of the integration.
A PlayStation and Discord account link was announced earlier this year, but PlayStation has been mum on whether or not Discord will be fully integrated with consoles.
Sony to Integrate Discord Voice Chat in “The Coming Months”

The good news for PlayStation players comes despite the fact that neither Sony nor PlayStation have officially acknowledged the rumors. The corporation has been at the center of a number of recent scandals, most recently angering consumers who have yet to purchase a PlayStation 5 by increasing the price of the console in the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and other countries.
This week it was also reported that consumer rights activist and UK resident Alex Neill is suing Sony for $5 billion because the company “rips people off” by taking a 30% cut of digital game sales made through the PlayStation Store.
The lawsuit claims that between £67 and £562 should be returned to anyone who made a purchase from the PlayStation store in the UK after August 19, 2016.
