Obsidian Entertainment’s New Game Pentiment Release Date Has Been Confirmed Or Not!

The developers at Obsidian Entertainment and Microsoft are proud to announce that their upcoming game Pentiment will be available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows 10/11 PC, Steam, Xbox Game Pass, and PC Game Pass on November 15. As of today, the game can be preordered and preinstalled via Game Pass.

Pentiment Story

Find out about the past in today’s world with artwork reminiscent of medieval and early modern woodcuts and illuminated manuscripts. Pentiment is a story-based adventure game that takes place in 16th-century Upper Bavaria during the reign of the Holy Roman Empire. As Andreas Maler, you’ll play a role in a murder mystery set in the fictional town of Tasting and the abbey of Kiersau Abbey over the course of 25 years.

From Andreas’ upbringing and career choices to his methods of a murder investigation, everything is up to you. It’s up to you to decide how to spend the limited time you have investigating the suspects, whether that’s sneaking into the abbey library at night to peruse secret documents or playing a round of the locals’ favorite card game to glean information from the other players. Andreas’s actions and accusations will have far-reaching effects on the close-knit Alpine community.

Those of you who will be at Gamescom this week will be among the first to get a hands-on experience with Pentiment. After the first murder occurs, attendees at Gamescom will have to pick one of three leads to investigate in order to begin compiling their suspect list. What they choose to do with their time is their own business, but how their actions lead to justice will be revealed in the full release on November 15.

Pentiment Trailer

If you want to see what makes Pentiment’s art so intriguing in motion, check out the game’s announcement trailer from the Xbox Showcase. It reminds me of Card Shark, another game whose unique aesthetic I greatly enjoyed.
