Earlier a candidate aspiring for NEET had to undergo two years of continuous study in Biology or Biotechnology, Physics, Chemistry, and English in Class 11th and Class 12th, under the Regulations on Graduate Medical Education, 1997. In addition, the candidate must have to complete the study in regular schools excluding private candidates or open schools. In 2018, the High Court of Delhi quashed these provisions.
