It is said that the violence occurred over a love affair. The victim’s family was en route home after performing rituals on the riverbanks on Monday morning when some hidden assailants targeted six individuals, resulting in two deaths and four injuries. Reportedly, the two died at the scene and the four injured victims are in critical condition at this moment. The injured victims include the wives of the deceased, the father, and the sister.
This incident was a matter of the Punjabi Mohalla area which falls under the jurisdiction of Kaviya Police Station. The deceased’s family was coming back home from the riverbank after performing Chhath Puja rituals when the open firing started. In a shocking turn of events, two members of the family died and four others sustained serious bullet injuries. However, the injured victims were immediately taken to a local hospital from there they were referred to Patna for intensive medical treatment. Area ASP Pankaj Kumar said, “Three injured have been referred from Begusarai Sadar Hospital to Patna.”
SP Pankaj Kumar responded to the crime scene along with a police team. They immediately started an investigation and confirmed the casualties. ASP added that the shooting was initially suspected to be a result of an old enmity between the involved parties. Later, it came to know that a ”love affair” was the main reason behind the firing incident. ASP further claimed that the prime suspect has been identified.
