Two sources familiar with the development claimed, “This would alleviate travel concerns, as one would not need to search for different transport options upon reaching a particular destination.” Integrating all service providers on a single network would create last-mile connectivity for commuters at a very competitive price. The source further cited that the service would start with tier-I cities which would subsequently expand to other cities of the country. The plan of ONDC reportedly comprises two stages. Currently, ONDC is focused on the first phase of a two-stage plan.

Open Network for Digital Commerce is a non-profit organization that was set up by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade. ONDC is planning to start with local transport services first and later offer bookings for flights, hotels, and train travel as well.
