Netflix Originals: Back to that time of year again. With upfronts underway, broadcast and cable networks are making room for new programming by eliminating old ones. Despite star and producer Ellen Pompeo’s repeated statements that she was ready to end the show, ABC renewed “Grey’s Anatomy” for a whopping 19th season back in the winter.
There are, however, many other shows on the network that has yet to be officially canceled. While this was happening, NBC decided to cancel “Manifest” after its third season, only to have the show picked up by Netflix for a fourth season.

The Peacock has also renewed the medical drama “New Amsterdam” for a fifth and final season. And all three “One Chicago” series were restored, as were all three “Law & Order” series. Taking advantage of the opportunity, The CW renewed multiple shows ahead of schedule, including “Riverdale,” “The Flash,” “Walker,” “All American,” “Nancy Drew,” “Superman & Lois,” “All American: Homecoming,” and “Kung Fu.”
Nonetheless, they canceled several popular shows, including “Charmed,” “Dynasty,” and “Roswell, New Mexico,” whose fourth season was scheduled to premiere in June. The shocking cancellation of “Archive 81” by Netflix after just one season sent shockwaves through the streaming community.

Netflix doesn’t reveal viewership numbers, but the show quickly rose to No. 1 and No. 2 on its Top 10 list after its debut. Rotten Tomatoes received an average score of 81% from critics. The streaming service also renewed several of its most popular shows, including “Stranger Things” (for a fifth and final season after the currently airing fourth), “Sex/Life,” “Emily in Paris,” “Virgin River,” “Sex Education,” and “Outer Banks,” among others.
