As part of the “Universes Beyond” series, a unique deck of Magic: The Gathering cards called Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth will be released. IGN has released a sneak glimpse at a few cards in the set since the collaboration between the two series was first revealed in 2021.
The One Ring, which appears as a potent legendary artifact card in the Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth set, is one of the most memorable cards in the collection. Two cards in the group also portray the legendary wizard Gandalf as Gandalf the Grey, each with a different design but identical stats and special powers.
While fighting the Balrog in one card, Gandalf is shown sitting and wielding his staff and his sword, Glamdring, in the other. The set also includes five different land cards, each highlighting a significant region of the geography of Middle-earth.
In addition to being a stand-alone game, Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth is an entirely legal draftable card in Magic: The Gathering’s well-liked “modern” format. This implies that players can use these cards in competitive settings by including them in their current decks.
