This year, Meg 2 will bring back a giant, bloody shark to our movie theatres, and we’re not sorry to say we can’t wait. While the first film was not precisely a critical success, it was a box office smash, grossing over $500 million worldwide.
Catherine Xujun Ying, the film’s executive producer, announced a sequel in November 2018. The sequel, Meg 2: The Trench, has been filmed and will be released in August, hoping to take a slice out of the competition.
When Will Meg 2: The Trench Be Released in Theaters?
Meg 2: The Trench will be released in theaters on August 4, 2023, five years after the first film, assuming no delays. Filming occurred between February and May of 2022, so unless Warner Bros. needs to adjust the release date, we should be reunited with gigantic sharks in August 2022 as planned.
The eagerly anticipated trailer for Meg 2: The Trench has been released, starring Hollywood actor Jason Statham, who announced its release on Instagram. Statham posted the trailer with the caption “#Meg2 in theatres August 4” –

The film is a science fiction thriller directed by Ben Wheatley and based on Steve Alten’s novel The Trench (1999). According to the trailer, the submersible transporting a team of scientists is attacked by three enormous sharks, including the previously thought-extinct Megalodon.
