Events of Avengers: Endgame Concludes Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase 5

There is now a chance for Phase 5 of the MCU to move out of the shadow of Avengers: Endgame. Most of the 2019 movies and TV shows have deep ties to the most recent Avengers film, which dealt with the massive fallout from Thanos and the Infinity Stones. Phase 5 of the MCU can now begin after the events of the five-year Blip, and the inevitable fallout from them have been dealt with.

Phase 5 of Marvel’s film slate will begin with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and continue with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, The Marvels, Captain America: New World Order, Thunderbolts, and Blade.

Similarly, Disney+ shows like Secret Invasion, Loki season 2, Ironheart, and more will be a part of the next stage. Thus, the chance for a new beginning, free from the shadow of Avengers: Endgame, can begin.

Since its release, Avengers: Endgame Has helped to define the MCU

Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase 5

Avengers: Endgame was a landmark film for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, marking the climax of ten years’ worth of storytelling that all off with 2008’s Iron Man. There’s no doubt that after three movie-length phases, the MCU will require a fourth to address the fallout from half of all life in the universe being wiped out by Thanos and returning five years later.

The events of Endgame and the sacrifices made by Earth’s Mightiest Heroes to make them possible shaped much of Phase 4. Even though it was the third and final film in the Phase 3 series, Spider-Man: Far From Home was an epilogue to Avengers: Endgame by showing Peter Parker’s reaction to the news of Tony Stark’s death.

In addition, threads were running through many of the Phase 4 films, from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness to Thor: Love and Thunder to the final film in the phase, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, in which the Wakandans butted heads with nations seeking stronger deterrents after the Blip.

Similarly, the events of Endgame inspired the subsequent Phase 4 shows like WandaVision, Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki, and Hawkeye. When Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes dealt with the necessity for a new Captain America and the altering political landscape brought on by the Blip, Wanda Maximoff’s anguish over losing Vision caused her to seize control of an entire town.

Clint Barton had to come to terms with his dark past as Ronin following Thanos’ Decimation and Black Widow’s sacrifice. At the same time, the 2012 version of Loki is shown, having avoided his doom thanks to the time-traveling Avengers of Endgame.

Avengers: Endgame is Not Directly Tied to Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase 5

The fact that Phase 5 will continue past Avengers: Endgame is encouraging. Phase 4 was significantly affected by the conclusion of the Infinity Saga, both in terms of in-universe events and the mere reality that it altered expectations and attitudes toward the MCU in the future.

It now feels like work on the new Multiverse Saga can get underway. Because of this, it’s appropriate that Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige only recently disclosed the new saga’s name when Phase 4 concluded.

Loki, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and Spider-Man: No Way Home laid the groundwork for the multiverse, allowing Phase 5 to begin developing it in preparation for Phase 6, which will feature the films Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars, both of which are expected to bring the overarching multiversal narrative to a dramatic conclusion.

Even though it only has two quick mentions of Avengers: Endgame, Phase 5’s first film, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, introduces the crucial villain Kang the Conqueror and several of his forms in the enormous multiverse.

Additionally, Captain America: New World Order, Thunderbolts, and Secret Invasion are all planned to establish a brand-new status quo for Earth and its heroes, bringing new threats, villains, heroes, and teams beyond the Avengers itself.

New areas will be included in Phase 5’s expansion. Movies like Blade, which will feature Mahershala Ali, were never mentioned in the Infinity Saga or Endgame. The film will feature Marvel’s most well-known vampire hunter. It will undoubtedly follow in the footsteps of Phase 4’s Moon Knight and Werewolf By Night in expanding the MCU’s exploration of the supernatural.

No matter where the Multiverse Saga and beyond take the MCU, it will be hard to match Avengers: Endgame. This is why Phase 5 is vital after Phase 4 spent so much time dealing with the fallout of Endgame. Many Marvel Cinematic Universe followers felt strongly opposing opinions about Phase 4.

It features both the highest- and lowest-rated movies ever made. Now that we’ve passed the halfway point of this drama, Phase 5 must live up to expectations after a whole phase dominated by Endgame’s epicness.

The reviews for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantum Mania were divided, although the film added new components to the MCU and wasn’t overshadowed by Endgame. With so many confirmed projects at this midpoint of the Multiverse Saga, Phase 5 seems promising.

After the events of Avengers: Endgame, the bar has been set extremely high for any future Marvel Cinematic Universe film. It’s safe to assume that the 2026 release date for Avengers: Secret Wars will not prevent it from being linked to the 2019 release of Avengers: Endgame. Hence, providing something fresh and exciting for MCU Phase 5 and beyond will be a primary focus.
