Karangahake Gorge Accident
Reports have suggested that the police responded to the scene along with the emergency services at around 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon after a report about a single-vehicle crash on State Highway 2. Shortly after, the paramedics also arrived at the scene. The initial reports of the crash also indicated some serious injuries there. As the emergency personnel were clearing the wreckage and assisting the victims of the accident, the road was closed and diversions were placed in place on SH2.
Lanes On SH2 have been re-opened

At 5 p.m., the authorities updated that police had confirmed the road would be closed for some time. Following the crash on SH2, the Kaarangahake School also posted a notice to inform parents to expect delays due to SH2 being closed.
