Two-Vehicle Accident At Lower Kaimai
Police responded along with the emergency services at State Highway 29 following a multi-vehicle crash that occurred at Lower Kaimai on Tuesday at noon. The EMS arrived at the scene shortly after it was informed. A spokesperson for the police said two vehicles were involved in the accident including a truck. How many people were injured in the crash? The authorities have said that at least one person was injured in the accident. However, the injured victim was taken to Waikato Hospital in an air ambulance. He was in serious condition when admitted to the hospital. The extent of the injuries was not explained. The current situation of the injured victim’s health is not known. Reportedly, police have launched an investigation into it and detectives remained on the scene looking into it to figure out the circumstances surrounding it.
However, the cause of the crash is still under scrutiny. It is not clear whether speed was the factor that led to the collision of two vehicles. A Police spokesperson said the accident happened between Hanga and Rapurapu road near the summit on the Matamata side of the Kaimai Range. As a result of the major crash on State Highway 29, the road was closed between McLaren Falls and SH28 roads where the crew was clearing the wreckage for smooth traffic flow.
SH29 Remained Closed After Crash
The State Highway 29 was closed after the accident as an ambulance and a rapid response vehicle responded to the scene along with an air ambulance and an operations manager. The commuters were suggested to take an alternative route. SH29 was reopened after nearly two and half hours of the crash at 2:20 pm, said Waka Kotahi NZTA Waikato/BoP.
