James was born in Hartford, Connecticut, on June 6, 1990, to his parents, Karen and Dennis Kerwin. In 2009, he graduated from Lyme-Old-Lyme High School. He was a professional heavy equipment operator. During his early career, James worked for Empire Paving for several years. Most recently James worked at Anton Paving working alongside his best friend, Garrett. He is survived by his mother Karen, sister Marissa Carignan and her husband Blair Carignan of Waterford, and his beloved nieces and nephews, Shane, Sloane, Mila, Lucas, Cooper, and Ethan.
