Last night’s PlayStation Showcase concluded as expected: with a brand new Spider-Man 2 trailer. Despite the extensive gameplay demo, no release date was revealed; however, Insomniac promised more information shortly.
With the season only a few short months away, a more concrete release date was expected following yesterday’s gameplay preview for Spider-Man 2. Thus there was a note of disappointment at the end of the program.
Insomniac has promised that an update on this front is coming soon. The developer has thanked fans for their enthusiastic responses to the gameplay footage posted on Twitter, promising that further information about the game’s upcoming release, pre-orders, and accessibility features will be available shortly.

Similar delays occurred with the announcement of God of War: Ragnarok’s release date. The actual date wasn’t revealed to us until July last year, only four months before the release. If the rumoured September release date for Spider-Man 2 turns out to be genuine, we should hear official word very soon.

The ‘Fall’ season technically continues into November, so there is a lot of wiggle space for this release date, and the game might come out later than anticipated, even though most of us consider November to be part of the ‘Christmas season’ when it comes to game releases.
