IMD predicts rains in Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada of Odisha

The IMD has stated that under its persuasion, the rain activity in many parts of Odisha will start from midnight and light to moderate rainfall is anticipated over some parts of Odisha. According to the report, the weather department has also predicted heavy rainfall in many coastal districts of Odisha and West Bengal for more than 24 hours because the low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal intensified into a depression. Tuesday’s low pressure placed over the southeast Bay of Bengal and connecting Andaman and Nicobar Islands has moved west-northwestward and fully into a depression before laying centred over the west-central Bay of Bengal. As far as we know, by November 18, the depression will intensify into a profound depression over the North Odisha-West Bengal coasts. IMD DG Mrunjay Mohapatra stated, “Later, it would re-curve north northeastwards and reach over northwest Bay of Bengal off Odisha coast on 17 November morning and off north Odiasha west Bengal coasts on 18 November morning”. A heavy rain warning is issued in one or two areas over the districts of Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Cuttack and Balasore of Odisha.
