Horizon Forbidden West Burning Shores: The Burning Shores downloadable content (DLC) for Horizon: Forbidden West will continue the game’s narrative. In this installment, which takes place in a lava-covered Los Angeles, Aloy faces off against a Horus machine for the first time.
We don’t know what possessed this ten-drilled beast to continue its destruction atop the Hollywood sign, but luckily Aloy and her friends are here to figure it out and stop it.
With Burning Shores, Guerrilla Games has once again given players an extended story, following 2017’s downloadable content for Horizon Zero Dawn. The Frozen Wilds added a lot to the game’s narrative, including new gameplay mechanics and a substantial extension to Aloy’s journey.
Burning Shores, which players should get ready for before its release, promises to do the same. However, before Aloy travels south, there is much to do in the land of Horizon Forbidden West.

Get Latest Versions

Play Again Horizon: The Forbidden West
Official character artwork for Horizon: Forbidden West on the PlayStation 5. Now is the time for players who want to finish the story of Forbidden West to search the ancient ruins for collectibles and data points, two of which suggest that Burning Shores could be a downloadable content location.
One of these is Gilden’s “A Dam Shame,” which Aloy helped in The Frozen Wilds and who wrote the data point in question. He mentions going south to the Burning Shores, so maybe Aloy will join him there in the next story.
Another one is titled “Machine Dreams,” and it makes reference to the Banuk shaman Brin, who predicted the Forbidden West’s storms and red blight by drinking the blood of machines. Brin has not been located in Southern California, but he may be waiting for Aloy on the Burning Shores.

Get Reacquainted With The Controls
In Horizon: Forbidden West, Aloy battles a Slitherfang. A good number of players have probably played a dozen or more games since Forbidden West’s release.
Due to the uniqueness of the combat in each machine, it may take some time to get used to the controls again after a break from the Horizon series.
Forbidden West’s gameplay mechanics can be re-visited in a variety of ways, which is great news for players. Players can simply retry the Melee Pits or The Arena, or they can practice with machines out in the wild.
Some of the game’s scariest machines may seem impossible to defeat at first, but with the right strategy and arsenal at Aloy’s disposal, even the game’s toughest challenges become manageable.

Get Ready For Some Machines That Were Designed in L.A
A Sunwing with Aloy in front of Horus on the Hollywood sign. There were three new terrifying machines introduced in The Frozen Wilds: the Fireclaw, the Frostclaw, and the Scorcher.
The Yellowstone-inspired bears and wolves that Aloy encountered on her journey through Ban-Ur territory to aid the Banuk tribe put up a fierce fight.
Because Burning Shores takes place in California, it’s possible that new machines will be introduced that are inspired by local wildlife such as cougars, coyotes, and red-tailed hawks.
There is also the possibility of the return of prehistoric technology, in particular, that which is linked to the La Brea Tar Pits, where remains of extinct species such as the Ice Age coyote, Saber-tooth tiger, Dire wolf, and American lion have been discovered.

Accumulate Some Shards
It’s likely that, like in The Frozen Wilds, you’ll be able to buy new clothes and weapons in Burning Shores. Players who haven’t already done so should stock up on shards, as they have always been an absolute necessity in the Horizon games.
Fortunately, shards can be obtained quickly and easily through machine hunting, looting supply boxes, and human combat. The Shard Salvager ability helps Aloy out because it allows her to disassemble the components of resources and upgrades that are otherwise holding her back.
Elkjaer TV, a YouTube channel, found a fantastic method to farm shards in Forbidden West. Players can make a profit of 101 shards by buying and selling the Whisper Arrow bow from the merchant in Barren Light and Scalding Spear. However, Aloy won’t be able to use the bow until she finishes the optional quest “Shadow in the West.”

The Absolute Peak of Competency
Those who strive for 100% Completion will find a solid footing in Burning Shores if they have mastered all of Aloy’s skill trees.
In preparation for Burning Shores, players can strengthen Aloy’s defenses against Horus and any other enemies she will face by leveling up her skill trees to their maximum.
This is especially important for more casual players who may have missed out on a few to get through the massive story.
There are currently 162 abilities spread across six different skill trees in Forbidden West. New skills, such as mounted pickup, larger inventories, and dismount strikes, were introduced alongside the Frozen Wilds. So it wouldn’t be shocking if Burning Shores added its own set of unique abilities.

Analyze Horizon: Zero Dawn and The Wilderness, Despite the Cold
The Old Ones’ ancient world serves as a backdrop for the dark, apocalyptic storyline in the Horizon series. Horizon Zero Dawn’s revelation that Ted Faro was responsible for the end of the world is expanded upon in Forbidden West.
However, given that Zero Dawn was released in February of this year (2017), it’s easy to lose sight of the events that led Aloy to this point.
Zero Dawn isn’t that long of a game when only the main narrative is followed, though that obviously depends on how far into the game players want to go.
As some of Gaia’s subordinate functions, such as Hephaestus and Cyan, appear in The Frozen Wilds, it would be wise to review the first game and its story in preparation for Burning Shores.
