Honor 80 Pro vs OPPO Reno9 Pro Plus: The Number Series by Honor and the Reno Series by OPPO are not the most advanced lineups of these brands, but they still comprise high-end phones with flagship-class hardware departments.
And they’re intriguing because they’re priced lower than competing premium flagships like the ones from OPPO’s Find X and Honor’s Magic series. The latest high-end gadgets from the above-mentioned line are the OPPO Reno9 Pro Plus and the Honor 80 Pro: two of the most powerful devices out there, yet with a good quality-price ratio at the same time.
They are at the same level, but which one is the best? If you have this doubt, this comparison of the major specifications of the OPPO Reno9 Pro Plus and the Honor 80 Pro can assist you a lot.

Both of these gadgets feature stunning designs, making it difficult to pick a favourite. Instead, the answer likely lies somewhere between the two, depending on the individual beholding them. Both of these handsets feature curved displays on the edges and are built with high-end materials like glass and aluminium.
The Reno, on the other hand, is quite sophisticated, especially in light of the fact that its camera module is the same shade as the remainder of the device’s back. The Reno’s smaller screen makes it much more portable.
All of these phones have screens with comparable specs, so there won’t be any noticeable variances in the quality of the images you take with them. They’re AMOLED displays with support for one billion colours, 1080p resolution at 120 Hz, HDR10+ certification, and an in-screen fingerprint reader.
The diagonals of the two phones are marginally different, with the OPPO Reno9 Pro Plus’s screen measuring 6.7 inches and the Honor 80 Pro’s display measuring 6.78 inches.
As an added detail, the maximum brightness varies somewhat between the two options (950 nits for the former and 1,000 nits for the latter). However, these are rather minor distinctions, so you shouldn’t give them too much thought.

Specs & Software
When excluding the brand-new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, the OPPO Reno9 Pro Plus and the Honor 80 Pro share the same processor: the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1.
It’s an octa-core chipset with a maximum frequency of 3 GHz for the Cortex X2 CPU (underclocked compared to the 3.19 GHz of the regular Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1), 2.75 GHz for the three Cortex A710 cores, 2 GHz for the four Cortex A510 cores, and 700 MHz for the Adreno 730 graphics processor.
The OPPO Reno9 Pro Plus has 16 GB of RAM, whereas the Honor only has 12 GB, therefore it clearly wins this hardware comparison. In addition, the software is more up-to-date, being Android 13 rather than Android 12.
In comparison to the Honor 80 Pro, the OPPO Reno9 Pro Plus’s 50 MP Sony IMX890 sensor with OIS assisted by the proprietary NPU MariSilicon X is able to deliver superior performance. The Honor phone’s 160 MP main camera lacks optical image stabilisation.
The Honor 80 Pro, alternatively, offers a superior 50 MP ultrawide sensor. Further, it boasts a stronger front camera department comprising a 50 MP ultrawide selfie shooter and a 2 MP auxiliary sensor for depth computation.

The Honor 80 Pro’s battery is larger, with a capacity of 4800 mAh, therefore it should last longer in most cases. On the other hand, the 4700 mAh battery of the OPPO Reno 9 Pro Plus enables a more powerful charging technology: 80W SuperVOOC charging.
The base model OPPO Reno9 Pro Plus costs around $569, while the base model Honor 80 Pro costs about $505. I would choose the OPPO due to its higher quantity of RAM, better main camera, and faster charging: which one would you pick?
