Holiday For All Schools In Chennai Due To Heavy Rains

There is no stopping of the rain in Tamil Nadu. Tamil Nadu is currently facing heavy rains for a very long time now. Because of the rain, all the schools in Chennai have announced holidays for the safety of children per the Regional Meteorological Centre Chennai, the city has realized a heavy amount of rainfall per mm for the last 1 to 2 hours. The school holiday in Tamil Nadu capital Chennai is just on 25th November 2023, Saturday and tomorrow are in the holiday as tomorrow is Sunday. This holiday might get extended if the rain continues. According to the reports given by officials, all the schools in Tamil Nadu capital Chennai are closed on 25th November 2023, Saturday. Schools are closed because of the heavy rain in the city which is happening right now. The holiday has been officially announced by the District Collector. As per the regional Meteorological Centre Chennai, the city has recently realized a heavy amount of rainfall per mm in the past few hours. The Tamil Weather-IMD has officially made a tweet in which they have given some information. They have written, significant rainfall (mm) realised in the last few hours over Chennai: Taramani ARG-45.4; Meenambakkam AWS-26.0; NIOT-Pallikaranai ARG-23.9.

Recently, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has officially issued a notice in which they have given a thunderstorm warning for Tamil Nadu and Puducherry for the next three hours. There are some expectations of IMD that there is going to be moderate rain with isolated thunderstorms in some areas over Chennai, Chengalpattu, Thiruvallur, Kanchipuram districts, and the coastal areas of Villupuram & Cuddalore districts and Puducherry area. According to the source, there was a 7:00 am alert by an independent weather blogger in Tamil Nadu. It has been reported that currently in some places of the city, the rain has slowed down but on the other hand, they are tracking the upcoming set of thunderstorms which is 25km away from the coastline.

This type of rain is been occurring in Tamil Nadu for a very long time. First, this heavy rainfall occurred on 15th November 2023 and at that time schools, colleges, and institutes closed in Chennai, Puducherry, and Tiruvalur. After 10 days which means on 25th November 2023, Saturday, Tamil Nadu again witnessed heavy rainfall with a huge thunderstorm. The government has requested natives of Tamil Nadu stay inside their homes and avoid going outside their homes at this time.
