Mooncalves are one of the many Magical Creatures players in Hogwarts Legacy who can save and rehome. There are numerous opportunities to locate and save Mooncalves, while they are initially encountered and held during the quest “The Elf, The Nab-Sack, and the Loom.”
Mooncalves are not only cute, but they also offer players Mooncalf Fur when given the appropriate care. Mooncalves play a significant role in helping players in Hogwarts Legacy become more powerful as they go through the game because they are utilized to upgrade and enchant the players’ equipment.
A strange-looking creature, mooncalves are immediately recognized by their large eyes, which perhaps let them see in the dark. As their name suggests, Mooncalves can only be encountered at night and will dance in the moonlight in Hogwarts Legacy. Players should be kind to them because they have a “shy personality,” according to their description.
How to Identify Mooncalf Dens?
Search the global map for a sign resembling a beast’s paw and hover over it to find out what kind of Magical Beast resides there to locate any den. There are five Mooncalf Dens, but the one nearest to Hogwarts is the closest.
Even a Floo Flame destination named Mooncalf Den may be found here. As part of the quest with Deek, players should already have gone there. Three Mooncalf Dens, including this one, may be located north of Hogwarts: one to the southwest, close to Feldcroft, and one to the south, close to Coastal Cavern.

Rescuing Mooncalves and Getting Mooncalf Fur
Although it can be difficult, players should still be able to capture a Mooncalf with little difficulty. Use the Nab-sack when approaching a Mooncalf because they will flee if they see the player. The Mooncalf will probably run out of range before the rescue is finished, so players must press the button three times.
Players can complete the return by using Levioso or Arresto Momentum to stop the Beast in its tracks. A shiny Mooncalf, which is white and is indicated by the star next to the gender marker, can also be saved by players. Players can upgrade their gear at the Loom by using the five Mooncalf Fur they receive by caring for Mooncalves.
If the player doesn’t want to travel to Hogsmeade, they can release extra Mooncalves from the inventory menu to the wild instead of selling them to Brood and Peck for 120 Galleons each. Moon Balls, the Mooncalf’s preferred toy, can be found in the Toy Chest Spellcraft you bought from Tomes and Scrolls.
Hogwarts Legacy can be purchased for the PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. On April 4, the PS4 and Xbox One ports will be available, and the Nintendo Switch port will be available on July 25, 2023.
