Google honours Chilean javelin athlete and Olympic winner Marlene Ahrens with a Doodle

Today, Google Doodle has given an honor to Chilean javelin athlete and Olympic winner Marlene Ahrens. She was one of the most talented athletes who created many records in her life. She is being honored by Google Doodle today as on today’s date which means on 28th November but in the year 1956, she won the Melbourne Olympic Games and made her country proud. She was the inspiration of many people in the world of athletics. Her records are not easy to forget. So that is why today Google Doodle has paid tribute to the greatest athlete of all time. Marlene Ahrens

Marlene Ahrens was the greatest Chilean female athlete. She was born on 27th July 1933. Her full name was Marlene Ahrens Ostertag-Ebensperger but she was mostly known as Marlene Ahrens. She was the winner of the silver medal in the Javelin throw at the Summer Olympics 1956 in Melbourne with a distance of 50.38 meters. Karin Ebensperger was the daughter of Ahrens. Marlene Ahrens died on 17th June 2020 in the night. She died at the age of 86, shockingly she died one month before her 87th birthday. According to the reports, Marlene Ahrens’s cause of death was heart failure. It’s been 3 years of her passing but still, she is being recognized in the athlete world. It has been revealed that she was the Chilean flag bearer and also she was the only woman on the Olympic team. In the Pan American Games in 1959, she won the gold medal. This tournament was held in Chicago and then she also won a gold medal in the Pan American Games which was held in Sao Paulo in 1963. Marlene Ahrens was the flag bearer in the Summer Olympics in Rome in 1960but unfortunately in that tournament she did not win any medal. Then she was forced to retire after she dispute with the Chinese newspaper Clarin. Then she got banned from the Summer Olympics 1964 which was held in 1964. She was a married person. She was married to Jorge Ebensperger Grassau, a retired hockey player. They both gave birth to two children Karin Ebensperger and Roberto Ebensperger.
