Gold Coast Radio Stations Down Due To Thunderstorm and Heavy Rain, Two Hospitalized

A severe thunderstorm hit the South-East of Queensland on Saturday morning leaving two people severely injured and all the radion stations off-air in the region. The owner of 94.1 FM, Gary Field said all radio stations went off-air in Gold Coast due to heavy rain and thunderstorm in the morning. In another post, Gary Field updated that all radio stations were back up and running at midday the same day. He went on to explain the reason for going off-air that the transmitter on Mount Tamborine turned off generators since the storm struck Gold Coast on Monday. When heavy rain and a storm hit the region on Saturday morning a fault at the transmitter occurred which caused all the stations and television signals to lose. As the radio stations and television signals rely on-air signal, all the FM stations including 94.1FM also went off-air on Saturday morning. An alert was shared through a Facebook page informing listeners to direct to TV channels that still had a signal. 9 News Gold Coast added, “Backup generators were powering the transmitter over the last few days following the Christmas Day storm.
