A new promotional video for the next Fall 2023 season, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, has already piqued the interest of viewers before the summer 2023 anime season has even ended. The staff of the television adaptation of the manga by Kanehito Yamada and Tsukasa Abe published the second promotional video for the series on June 29, 2023.
Since it began serialization in April 2020, the series has amassed a substantial fan base, and its story has been praised by admirers worldwide. In less than three years after its publication, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End sold more than 8 million copies and was awarded the 14th Manga Taisho Prize and the New Creator Prize of the 25th annual Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize.

Frieren, the protagonist and eponymous character, is voiced by Atsumi Tanezaki, while Nobuhiko Okamoto voices Himmel, Hiroki Touchi voices Heiter, and Yoji Ueda voices Eisen. Keiichiro Saito directs the series at Madhouse Studios, while Tomohiro Suzuki handles the scripts. Reiko Nagasawa is responsible for character design, while Even Call composes the audio.
The 10th volume of the original manga, which is serialized in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine, was recently dispatched to Japan on March 16, 2023. The eighth volume was published in English by Viz Media on June 20, 2023. The manga took a temporary hiatus between January 18 and March 22 of this year.
The series concentrates on the titular character, Frieren, an Elven mage who was part of a legendary group of ten-year-long questing heroes who saved the world. However, as an Elf with a longer longevity, she returns to the Capital fifty years later, where her friend Himmel tragically passes away shortly after their reunion. This forces Frieren to confront her own pseudo-immortality, prompting her to embark on a final mission to reunite with Himmel.
