Fortnite Ranked Mode Explained- Everything You Need to Know!

Epic Games has revealed a new Fortnite Ranked mode; here is all we know about it so far, including when it will be released, how tiers will work, and what you can expect to get from playing at higher levels.

Season 2 of Fortnite’s fourth chapter is jam-packed with changes to the game’s Battle Royale and Zero Build modes. This season’s updates vastly improved the experience by introducing new items, quests, and gameplay elements.

As if that weren’t enough, Epic Games is also adding a new Ranked Play mode, which will replace the current Arena game mode and level the playing field for competitive and casual players alike in the game’s Battle Royale and Zero Build modes.

All the information we have so far about the new Ranked mode in Fortnite is included down below.

When Will the Fortnite Ranked Mode Be Released?

The v24.40 content update for Fortnite is scheduled to go live on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, and with it comes the Ranked mode.

After the new mode has been introduced, players will be able to turn the Ranking Up option on or off from the switch game mode menu. This will be a supplementary function.

In the traditional Battle Royale mode, Ranked Play will have to matchmake for Solos, Duos, and Squads, while in the Zero Build games, matchmaking will only be available for Duos, with various ranks for each.

Since Trios has been a major matchmaking mode for the FNCS and other cash cups, this effectively eliminates them from both competitions.

How Does Fortnite’s Ranked Mode Function?

Season Zero of Ranked will commence with the release of version 24.40. Up until the end of Season 3, Chapter 4, Season Zero will continue.

In Season Zero, your starting position will be determined by the outcomes of your prior matches in addition to your first set of matches in both Ranked Battle Royale and Ranked Zero Build.

Fortnite Ranked Mode Explained

After playing just one Ranked match in either Battle Royale or Zero Build, your rank will be made public. By toggling the “Ranked” setting to “On,” you can view your current rank on the screen’s left side while you’re in the Lobby.

In addition, a progress meter will indicate how close you are to the next level or how close you are to the previous level. The distance the progress bar advances after a match is dependent on several factors:

  • Your match placement
  • How many eliminations you or your team got in the match
  • Eliminations later in the match will count more than eliminations earlier in the match.
  • The ranks of the players you or your team eliminated will be taken into account.

All members of a team will be counted as one unit for computing a team’s final score and playoff standing after a game. Your team’s overall status will be determined by the player with the highest individual rank.

A squad that includes both Gold I and Silver I players will still be matched against other Gold I and Silver I squads and played at the Gold I level.

Fortnite’s competitive mode welcomes players of all skill levels. For new players to get used to the game, Epic has them complete a specific Quest (Outlast 500 opponents) before they can access the Ranked mode.

How Will the Ranks Work in the Ranked Game of Fortnite?

The ranks will range from bronze (the lowest) to unreal (the highest). There will be three categories between bronze and diamond, but only one between elite and champion and none between diamond and unreal.

Beginning at the Bronze level, progress to the Silver level, and then the Gold level. You need to go through Gold, Platinum, and Diamond again to get to the Elite level.

After reaching Elite, then Champion, and beyond that, Unreal, you’ll have to prove your mettle against the game’s absolute greatest. When you reach Unreal in the rankings, you will remain there for the rest of the season.

Your global rating among other Unreal players is indicated by a number once you’ve made it to Unreal. You may see where you stand in Battle Royale and/or Zero Build on the Unreal leaderboard.
