The current Dark & Darker playtest is the third and longest of its kind. The community has responded enthusiastically to Ironmace’s next dungeon crawler.
As in the past Sunday, December 10, 2022, a 10-day playtest was set that ended on December 10, 2022. Because of this, it will expire at 2 AM PT / 5 PM ET on December 26, 2022. Recently, Ironmace noted that the original end date for the playtest was set for December 23, 2022.
With so many players reporting connection problems at launch, the devs decided to push the test date back three days to December 26. This is the third playtest for the game, with the first occurring in September of 2022. Just a month later, in October, we had the second playtest. Neither of those promotions, however, lasted as long as the current one, which is open to gamers for a full 10 days.

Dark and Darker Has Received a fairly Positive Response
Players who have participated in the playtest for Ironmace’s Dark and Darker have generally given the game positive reviews. The game combines elements of action-adventure and role-playing games to create a really original dungeon crawler.

The title is described as follows:
“An unforgiving hardcore fantasy FPS dungeon PvPvE adventure. Band together with your friends and use your courage, wits, and cunning to uncover mythical treasures, and defeat gruesome monsters, while staying one step ahead of the other devious treasure-hunters.”
The community seems to be having the most fun with the game’s multiplayer mode, which includes a co-op mode. The first two playtests, Dark and Darker, were generally well-received, and the third gives promising early signs of following suit. The vast majority of players are contributing meaningfully to the game and its growth by offering feedback and ideas at key junctures.
Ironmace has released a large number of updates and hotfixes to address some of the game’s more egregious performance issues in response to player complaints. This demonstrates the team’s dedication to delivering a quality dungeon crawler to players when it finally releases.
If there are no unforeseen hiccups in the production process, Dark & Darker will be completed and released in the fourth quarter of 2023.
