As we all know currently, the farmers in Punjab are doing a protest. The farmers of Punjab protested the name rail roko. And now this protest has taken a big turn. Today, 30th September 2023, Saturday, is the third day of the rail roko protest. This protest has been started by the Punjab farmers. The main aim of this protest is to demand a financial package for the loss faced by farmers in the recent flood. A lot of farmers are a part of this protest. This protest is for three days which means today is the last day of this protest but it can also be expected that the farmers might extend the protest. The ‘rail roko’ protest has been started by the Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee. So by looking at Shobhan Chaudhuri, the Northern Railway General manager said about this protest that, this movement of trains has been badly affected because of this. He said that 90 mail express trains and almost 150 passenger trains have been canceled now. And they are cooperating with this situation. There are 20 places which are stirred in Punjab, including Moga, Hosiarpur, Gurdaspur, Faridkot, Samrala, Amritsar, Bathinda, Ferozepur, Patiala, Jalandhar, and Tarn Taran. According to the source, a total of 91 trains currently under the Ferozepur division have been canceled and 48 trains have terminated. 5 short have been organised and 35 have been diverted. It includes 179 passengers and 14 goods trains have been impacted. yesterday, the Punjab farmers who participated in the rail roko protest blocked the Chandigarh-Ambala-Delhi national highway which is near the Lalru in Punjab, India for seven hours. They blocked the highway from both sides and the traffic was badly diverted till now. Till now the farmers have not announced whether they are going extend the rail roko protest from tomorrow or not.
