Far Cry 2 PC Requirements: Developed by Ubisoft Montreal and released in 2008 for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360, Far Cry 2 is a first-person shooter. Gameloft adapted the game into a top-down shooter for mobile phones. It’s Far Cry 2’s main storyline sequel.
The plot centers on a mercenary who is sent to a fictional East African country amid a civil war to eliminate the Jackal, a weapons dealer who is inciting violence.
While managing their health and equipment, players explore an open world and complete missions for various factions and allies known as Buddies. Players can compete against one another in either a team or solo setting.
Three and a half years were spent making it, with concept work starting during the making of Far Cry Instincts (2005). The setting and design were conceived by director Clint Hocking, who aimed to make the game more realistic than the original Far Cry (2004).
The story’s arc and tone were influenced by Joseph Conrad’s short story Heart of Darkness and Dashiell Hammett’s novel Red Harvest, both of which deal with the extreme measures people will go to survive.
The Dunia game engine, developed by Ubisoft and inspired by CryEngine, was used to create the game. The developers went for realism by giving enemies and the environment real-time, reactive elements. Baaba Maal, a Senegalese singer, contributes his voice to the music composed by Marc Canham.
Critics praised Far Cry 2’s world, the openness of gameplay, Buddies, world design, and visuals, but they panned the game for its script, AI, and technical flaws. Numerous game awards considered it for their categories.
As of January 2009, nearly three million copies of the game had been sold around the world. The scope and survival mechanisms of Far Cry 2 have attracted a lot of praise. The team incorporated player suggestions into Far Cry 3 based on the results of the previous game (2012).
