Bethesda plans to drop a bomb on gamers everywhere with a teaser trailer for The Elder Scrolls 6 at E3 2018. As one of the most influential single-player games ever made, Skyrim has set a high bar for its sequel. Since E3 2018 took place on June 10, the announcement is already five years old. If The Elder Scrolls 6 had a kid, it could start kindergarten this year.
Bethesda’s other significant projects at the time would be Starfield and Fallout 76. The latter was scheduled for release in October 2018, but fans complained about the game’s multiplayer mode and other design decisions.
However, things have improved, and the game has a thriving community. Meanwhile, a day after The Elder Scroll 6’s introduction anniversary, the science fiction RPG Starfield will receive a direct and is now scheduled for release in September.
The prospects of fans learning anything about TES6 this year are little to none, given Bethesda has indicated that there will be no “concrete” Elder Scrolls 6 news until after the release of Starfield.
The Elder Scrolls 6’s Strangest Anniversary
And there in lies the quirkiness of the unveiling of The Elder Scrolls 6. The gap between a video game’s first announcement and its eventual release appears to have widened over the previous few years. Certainly not all of them, but it does occur frequently.
Take a look at the teaser for Elder Scrolls 6 provided down below:
For instance, Dead Island 2 was announced in 2014 but didn’t come out until 2023, so its development hell lasted nearly a decade. Fortunately, the game was in good shape when it started so many mistakes may be overlooked.
Nonetheless, updates and announcements were made to the fan base well before the game’s fifth anniversary in 2019. Early reports of games like Kingdom Hearts 3, Cyberpunk 2077, and Metroid Prime 4 led to disappointment among players. However, updates on the game’s development status were provided to fans before the five-year mark.
It’s probably happened before, but it’s still incredible that the announcement trailer for The Elder Scrolls 6 has been out for five years without any accurate, definite information being known. There have been a few tidbits here and there from Todd Howard, as well as some credible speculation and potential discoveries since, but overall, so little is known about the game that it is hardly worth contemplating.

After all, it’s probable that much of it will evolve as the project progresses. The likely location of Hammerfell is a tidbit of knowledge many fans have held to. Many people assume that Hammerfell and High Rock are in Starfield because of some carvings they saw in a trailer. Even if that was a tease, though, nothing is certain.
What’s more, likely, the vision BGS had for The Elder Scrolls 6 in 2018 has shifted substantially in the intervening five years. Because games undergo many revisions throughout development, the original concept and the finished product are rarely the same.
Whether or not this teaser trailer will be 10 years old by the time The Elder Scrolls 6 is released is still up in the air, but hopefully, by then, fans will have some solid details to go on. A new Elder Scrolls game is currently in the works.
