Deepfakes: Centre To Assist Citizens To File Firs Against Social Media Firms

Meity which refers to the Ministry of Electronics and Information is going to develop the platform for the users. Recently, the Union IT minister, Rajeev Chandrasekhar has stated deepfakes. He has stated on 24th November 2023, Friday. He stated that now the government is going to assist the public in filing FIRs against social media platforms if they violate the rules of IR in the case they’re aggrieved from the objectionable content. Rajeev, I am the Minister of State for Electronics and IT. He has claimed that the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (Meity) is going to make a platform in which social media users can be notified if there an IT rule violations by social media platforms.

Rajeev Chandrasekhar also said that from now onwards, the Indian government and Meity are going to nominate the Rule Seven officer and also going to take 100% compliance expectations from all the social media platforms. It has been reported that FIR is going to be registered against the entity that has officially posted the content. The Rule Seven officer is going to be a person who is going to make a platform where everyone can easily file an FIR against the social media platform for violating the rules of IT. Rajeev Chandrashekhar held a meeting recently with all the players on the Internet and the Internet intermediaries. In the meeting, he officially informed the media that from October 2022, the government has received notification that players on the Internet are receiving threats of their deepfake videos.
