Even if they are playing on a different platform, Epic Games Store users can earn Dead Island 2 achievements. Games these days can work with other platforms in a lot of different ways. Most of the time, this means cross-saves, cross-play, or cross-progression, but not cross-achievements.
Dead Island 2 doesn’t allow cross-saves, cross-progress, or cross-play when it first comes out. This means that players of Dead Island 2 on PlayStation can only play with other PlayStation players, players on Xbox can only play with other Xbox players, and players on PC can only play with other PC players.
Since Dead Island 2 is only available through the Epic Games Store, PC players can only play with people who also use the Epic Games Store. Some fans will be sad that Dead Island 2 doesn’t have cross-saves or cross-progression, but at least it has cross-achievements, for what it’s worth.

This was pointed out by Reddit user PCMachinima, who said that they were playing Dead Island 2 on PS5 and still getting awards in the Epic Games Store version of the game. It looks like their PlayStation account is linked to their Epic Games Store account, which could explain why Dead Island 2 achievements are unlocked as they earn medals on PlayStation.
Achievements and trophies in Dead Island 2 are mostly about finishing quests and killing zombies, so it’s not too hard to get them all. In Dead Island 2, completing all of the story quests and side quests will take a bit of time, but it will help players unlock a good number of awards. From there, all you have to do is finish the challenges and other random jobs that the Dead Island 2 achievement list calls for.
I hope that at some point Dead Island 2 will have full cross-saves and cross-play. Fans might be more interested in the game if it had these features, but at the time of this writing, there were no plans to add them. But the game will get updates in the coming months.
There will be paid additions that add new content, and there will also be free updates that try to fix bugs and other problems with the zombie game. Details won’t be known until the changes are ready to be rolled out, though. Dead Island 2 is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
